Lost collie travels 3000 miles to reunite with Oregon owner

A collie named Callie traveled from Iowa to Walcott Indiana then back to Silverton Oregon, arriving February 15 after nearly 3000 miles. Owner G F Brazier had advertised for the dog in Iowa. the dog finally leaped to his astonished master at the Silverton restaurant. The Oregon Human Society will present a silver medal.

Commerciat Club Forms District Boy Scout Unit

Members of the Commerciat Club formed a permanent district organization at City Hall on Tuesday evening. They elected officers including district vice president Dr. Banch and education head Claude Nesler, and planned future cross-town elections for president and scout commander as other towns join. The movement advocates citizenship, self reliance, camping and survival skills for boys.

Local Pupils Form Three Music Clubs Under Mrs Clarke

Mrs O H Clarke a local music teacher has organized her pupils into three clubs with officers. The Saturday Music Club meets on Saturday afternoons for younger members while the Elder Etude Club gathers on the second and fourth Mondays. An orchestra is formed using bells castanets drums triangles and piano with Mrs Clarke at the piano. The classes plan another costume recital soon.

Royal Neighbors Gala Night At Coquille Meeting

Royal Neighbors held a gala regular meeting last Monday with 20 visiting members from Coquille and two from North Bend. The decorated camp room and banquet hall featured green tones with roses and lilies. The evening included an eight member initiation, speeches by visitors, piano solo by Vesta Davis, tableau and Novello Quartette performances, and a chicken pie dinner served cafeteria style.
