David D Moore Dies After Flu Pneumonia

David D Moore aged 1 year died Sunday night from pneumonia after a mild flu. He was ill briefly as the Duffy Evangelist of the Christian church conducted burial rites at Myrtle Point cemetery. The Moore family suffered a flu epidemic with ten ill siblings, all others recovering.

Marshfield Senior Ball Highlights School Social Scene

Marshfield High School last Monday held a senior ball at the Firemen’s hall with rainbow lights and an orchestra. Attendees included Myrtle Point High School students Miss Hilda Carter and Miss Beatrice Beckham, escorted by Harold Bargelt and Earl Smith. The event was chaperoned by the editor and wife and praised as one of the best of its kind.

Baby found abandoned on doorstep in Oregonian wrapped in paper

A baby girl about three days old was found on an Oregonian doorstep early morning. Neighbors reported seeing a man and a taller-appearing man with a woman walking nearby. The infant was asleep and undisturbed, wrapped with a blanket and a copy of the Oregonian inside the wrap. Officials and locals search for clues while many applicants offered to adopt. Mrs. Steve Billings, a longtime resident, died from pneumonia after a brief illness, with a large funeral held at Myrtle Point cemetery.

Davis and son Herscel present varied musical program

P Waldo Davis and son Herscel appeared at the M E choir last Thursday evening. Their golden toned chimes drew a small yet highly appreciative audience. The program mixed classical sacred and popular works including a Vivien Anderson callot and a reading by Dr. Clarke. Dr. Clarke’s encore was requested, reflecting the crowd’s warm reception.

Court to rule on rights in highway dispute near bridge

A delegation led by A L Snyder and wife Wm Carlyle Dan Chellieu and wife and J W Collins met with the county court yesterday to seek adjustments on a fight over high ways between herd and bridge. The court said all matters would be settled as soon as the final order is issued, likely next week.

Funeral for Mrs. Bessie Corliss Held at Norway Cemetery

Mrs. Bessie Corliss, long a resident after moving from Powers, died reportedly from apoplexy. The funeral took place Tuesday at the chapel with Rev. Woodfin of the M E Church officiating. Interment followed at Norway Cemetery. Relatives and several townspeople attended from Powers.
