Mr Culbertson and family living on the North Fork near Gravel Ford report their horse shot early Monday morning. They believe a blast from a nearby house narrowly missed striking someone if the family had been at home. The suspected shooter remains unidentified.
Errol Knight escaped with slight injuries after his service truck rolled over a fence on Gravel Ford road. He reported no serious harm as the windshield was broken and his right elbow scratched. The other driver, a woman, stopped and helped. Knight was taken to Myrtle Point for treatment.
G M Parker of North Fork has purchased 510 acres on a hill west of Myrtle Point known as the Stuart Lyons property. The unimproved land can be cleared into a fine ranch near a stream. Parker also bought John Moore’s ten acres from the Lyons estate to access the larger tract and buildings.
Frank McCracken returned from the Sacramento valley where he traded his 66 acre North Fork ranch for 30 acres of fruit and nuts near Artois, six miles from Willows. The deal includes all equipment and is with a local Artois real estate dealer. The McCrackens will depart in about a week to assume their new holdings after 35 years here.
Walter Barksow and Tony Perrone plan to remove logs from Johns Creek not later than this week. They started by cutting and building a road to connect the logging camp with the North Fork gravel road. They are currently logging cedar and expect substantial timber later in the week.
