Daniel L. Anderson, probably the oldest Mason in the state, died at his daughter Mrs. Nantie Stinson's home in Coos City on January 24 at age 94. Born January 24, 1824, he traced beginnings in England, France, and Germany, crossed the plains in 1840, settled near Oregon City, married Mary Ann Fitzhugh in 1845, and fathered 11 children. He served as a captain in Co. A, 2nd Regiment, Oregon Mounted Volunteers, and joined Masonry in 1860, living with his daughter in Coos County for four years.
