Harvey Anderson Drowns in Floras Creek Near Langlois
Word of the Myrtle Point drowning tragedy reached Tuesday. Harvey Anderson, born and raised here, died while fishing on Floras Creek four miles above Langlois trying to jump a log to a stone. his body recovered after a heavy search. His wife Hilma Syphers and two children survive along with parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Anderson and siblings. Funeral arrangements await the arrival of his father and mother from California.

Near Collision at L. Strong Corner Damages Minor
Two sedans driven by women came close to a collision at the L. Strong hardware corner Tuesday afternoon. One car traveling south on Fourth tried to turn east on Maple while the westbound Maple car crowded it and struck a light pole with little force causing no damage. Relatives of 79 year old former Myrtle Point merchant say he died in Portland. Cooper, who came from Humboldt County in 1894, owned a Train Building store burned at Spruce and Fourth last May. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial cemetery. Surviving wife Martia, two daughters in San Francisco, granddaughter Araletta Shes.
