A morning blaze at the Perkins warehouse on Spruce Street damaged stock valued around 7000 dollars with about 76 percent insured. Firefighters brought the fire under control within minutes as Pemberton moved office gear from the upper floor.

Rebekahs of Coquille invited members to their meeting on Wednesday night for initiatory degree work and installation of officers for the coming year. The Modern Woodmen of America announce plans to organize Whew camp at Powers named Tall Timber Camp on Monday January 16 as they target about 50 charter members.
In Camp 8 on Yellow Creek near Powers two young loggers were struck when a log swung onto their line. Jim McCullough died en route to North Bend hospital after the Pow ers to Myrtle Point trip. Wm. Mullen was seriously injured and later transported. McCullough funeral set for Friday at Schroeder chapel with Norway cemetery burial.
Last Thursday Wallace Reid died aged unknown after being brought back to Hollywood. He passed away January 18 1923 at Banksia Place sgnitarium. He leaves a widow a son and an adopted daughter along with many colleagues and fans who admired his work.
Fred Rockard was operated upon for appendicitis on Sunday January 21 at Dr Clark Hospital. Current reports say he is doing fine.

Andy Radabaugh of Norway visited the area midweek while Agnes Willis Whobrey suffered illness. Leander Barklow moved his family to the B C Schall place. Lundy cheese factory stockholders elected officers and plan a February 3 community gathering with luncheon at the old brown schoolhouse. Edward Phillips funeral held at Neal Cemetery with Elder Barklow officiating. William Chandler and Mrs. Robbins visited Mrs. Sarah Johnston at Bandon after a major operation. Mrs. George Hermann to return home after visits in Hillboro Olympia Myrtle Point communities.
Albert Lilly of Bandon and Bernice Lilly of Arago wed at the Presbyterian parsonage on January 18 1928 with Rey L. Anderson performing the ceremony. The couple will reside in Norway for a time. The saying about desire and comfort echoes in a local quip.
Last Friday the Gem cafe changed ownership. R. V. Hamm bought it from Marksberry and Vammeda. The new proprietor plans an interior refresh by painting all furniture white and starts with solid patronage.
Secretary Hughes plans to attend the Pan American Conference in Santiago Chile in March if public duties permit He has conditionally accepted an invitation through the Chilean ambassador to visit Chile Details of the trip have not been arranged as yet
Myrtle Point high school teams swept Coquille High on Friday night with girls winning 8 to 10 and boys 16 to 20. Don Pierce missed part of the Coquille game. Jack Routledge of Marshfield refereed. Myrtle Point players excelled while Coquille stars Pierce and Oerding led their team.
The Cros Bay Times was chosen as the official paper with the News and the Sentinel named as contestant. A decision will be made the first of next week.
