Local Man Knows Hickmans Captor and Knight’s Recall

Ernest Knight, a mechanic from L. H. Poarte garage, knows Pendleton Chief Tom Gurdane and Oregon State Traffic Officer C I Lieuallen who captured Edward Hickman near Echo. Knight recalls the moment and praises the chief as the town’s protector. They stopped Hickman in a green Hudson car after learning he headed east from Portland. They recovered over fourteen hundred dollars given by Marian Parker’s father.

Young Presbyterians Bring Christmas Cheer to City Hospitals

Masronic Order and Eastern Star Install Officers

The Masronic body and Order of the Eastern Star held a joint installation Tuesday evening in their hall. Mrs Sadie Harlocker the retiring matron installed officers for the Eastern Star including Mrs Mary Schiling marshal Mrs Bellie Whitaker chaplain and Filentge Perkins organist. G E Gibson, a former Myrtle Point businessman, arrived from his Eden valley homestead via Powers. He carried the pelt of a coyote he trapped in the valley and reported wading through two feet of snow on the summit.

Myrtle Point defeated Eckblad hardware 36 to 22 in Marshfield in an uneasy opener for a makeshift lineup. Car Through Railing at North Fork Bridge Causes Minor Damage

Local Lady Dies in North Bend After Forty Five Years Here

Mrs Lund, 71, native of Finland, long resident of the bay area for forty five years, left six children including Frank Wickman in San Francisco and four daughters, with ties to Marshfield Eugene and Eureka. Bandon Man Found Dead Along Highway

Henry Beckett a 55 year old single man was found dead along the highway near Bandon on Monday afternoon. Death was due to heart failure and burial took place at Norway cemetery. He served two nephews with the same name in Bridge and his brother died of heart failure about a year ago.

Coos county root crop trials by H S Hale and L P Trigg on the Trigg farm show big yield differences among mangles under similar conditions. Weights taken early November and December 21 reveal Giant and Prizewinner among top performers. Mammoth Long Red also strong. About thirty young people from several churches gathered at the Church of the Brethren at five in the morning. Elton Schroeder drove a truck with a portable organ played by Miss Evelyn Hulet. The group visited town corners hospitals and then N Roseburg highway for a short distance, sharing their time and voices with listeners.
