Stable Fire Destroys Barn and Kills Two Horses
A stable owned by W. T. Dement on Fifth Street burned in the early hours, destroying the building and two Oregon Meat Co. horses kept there. Saddles, chaps, bridles, spurs and about a ton and a half of hay also burned, with renter losses estimated between 450 and 500 dollars. Firemen arrived too late to save the animals. one horse perished in the flames.

The International Lumber Export Company of Seattle has leased a large sea barge to transport Port Orford cedar from Myrtle Point to Seattle. The barge will carry about 500000 feet, easing rail shortages that have disrupted cedar shipments and hurt local contractors in Myrtle Point.

The Parkersburg plant, rebuilt for lower river milk, is ready to start with strong milk output. A plant is planned at Dew Valley near Bandon to serve northern Curry County with up to 8 000 pounds of milk daily and a meeting set for the 27th to locate a plant on the Elk or Sixes river.

Labor Day on the Bay Big Celebration Planned
The Central Labor Council of Coos Bay and affiliated unions plan a large Labor Day event on September 6. A parade forms on Broadway Marshfield and ends at Simm on Park North Bend with speeches by Rev J Claud Black and C O Young. A noon picnic, races, dancing, and concessions will follow with broad worker participation and free coffee.
