Oregon banks reported deposits of 318.9 million dollars for the end of June 1984, up from 314.4 million a year earlier. Fifty-two towns and cities exceeded 600 thousand in deposits, with Deschutes County leading in several open-city deposits.

Emery-Nosler Switches to Ford Lines in Portland Showroom

Emery-Nosler will drop Willys Knight and Overland agencies to sell Ford products. They plan a full Ford parts and machinery line for repairs, stock Ford cars including tractors and trucks, and specialize in Ford service. The Fugate building is being fitted as a showroom with displays next week. Nosler met with Ford officials in Portland to align on policy.

Shipment of 91000 pounds bark to eastern market

E J Michael shipped a car of 91000 pounds of cascara bark to the eastern market this week marking the second shipment of the season. Earlier a half car load went out and another carload is expected later this month at eight cents per pound.

Endicott 60th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Myrtle Point

Mr and Mrs Endicott of Myrtle Point celebrated sixty years of marriage with relatives and friends gathering at Whigher grove on the Coquille river for a picnic and reunion. Attendees included J S Lyons and family W H Lyons C M Johnson and daughter Alyce Dell Rev and Mrs W E Cooper and daughter Beatrice and several Endicott relatives from multiple cities. The couple traveled from Missouri to San Francisco then to Coos Bay by Empire and settled on a homestead on the middle fork of the Coquille before moving to Myrtle Point in 1912. Mrs Endicott born Deliah Crawford and Mr Endicott a Civil War veteran of Missouri volunteers.

Scouts to Port Orford Pioneer day parade

A 15 member Scout troop left by auto for Port Orford's Pioneer celebration. Messia, Schneider, Schroeder, and Nosler provided the cars. Two scout girls Carolyn and Ernestine Schneider joined their father. Other troops from North Bend Marshfield Coquille and Bandon will attend to demonstrate scouting to the public.

First Airmail Arrives in Myrtle Point for Miss Louise Schmitt

The first trans continental aerial mail to reach Myrtle Point arrived last Monday for Miss Louise Schmitt visiting her brother GC E arwha PM lebbae wee mallad at SComne. It left Atchison Kansas on the 7th and arrived in Myrtle Point on the 10th via San Francisco. The postage rate was five cents.

Coos County Debates County Agent Funding At Court Meeting

Will County Court decide on funds to establish county agricultural work for 1926. Wm L Teutsch of Oregon Agricultural College Extension asks for early budget figures and a suitable agent, citing Tillamook's dairy gains from calf sales and high demand for calves locally. Court hints at considering the issue at the fall budget session.

John Henry Ogden born San Jose November 12 1902 died Sunday August 10 1924 at 21 years 8 months 28 days after acute neuritis illness. He leaves mother stepfather two sisters and six half siblings. The regular W. C. T. U. gathering met Tuesday the 12th at the Presbyterian church. Members enjoyed a very interesting session focused on the forthcoming county convention. The date for the county meeting has not yet been decided.

County Fair premium lists distributed for two county fair

Premium lists for the Fair Board are issued to directors and will be mailed to patrons in Coos and Curry counties. If not received, visit the Farmers Store where secretary Hansen will provide one. The Myrtle Point fair runs September 17 to 2 with Scout rally on September 19. A Red Cross rest room and women’s theme will aid attendee comfort.
