Young Russian contractor drowns in Middle Fork
Jacob Akaloff 23, a sub-contractor for A Guthrie Co, drowned while bathing Sunday in the Middle Fork. He swam with others, was not seen as they moved downstream, and his body was found shortly after. He had bruises likely from striking rocks. Employed about 17 men at Road Camp No 1 on the Myrtle Point Roseburg road. Body prepared for burial and shipped to Seattle for interment. He was a native of Russia, with two brothers who accompanied the body to Seattle.

Officers will be elected, and letters from Eastern interests include a Minnesota professor planning to move there and a cedar by product factory promising about twenty jobs if three phase electricity is provided by Mountain States Power. bonds and cost considerations discussed.
