Myrtle Point Creamery forms with Sugar Loaf Factory purchase
Thirty six dairymen incorporated the Myrtle Point Creamery on April 18 in Myrtle Point and bought the Sugar Loaf Factory once run by Hans Christensen. The firm will produce cheese and sell milk locally with three private factories remaining in the county. Myrtle Point Cannery Becomes Holt Chase Canning Co Expansion Planned
The Myrtle Point cannery operated by A C Chase in 1919 will be run as Holt Chase Canning Company with Chase in charge. The new incorporation has capital stock of 15000 and aims to expand plant facilities this spring and in 1921. Two acres added for riverfront shipments. 20 by 55 foot addition to the factory and a 40 by 100 foot wing will create three times current floor space with new machinery planned. Next year eight times present floor space expected as work continues. About thirty workers to be employed in berry season and half that in vegetable season, with 800 acres under contract or in sight for berries and more land sought for turnips, beets, carrots, and broccoli for canning.
