Denver April 2 1922 the public utilities commission of Colorado denied an application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for an auto bus and truck line parallel to the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. The decision argues railroads should not be displaced in summer and that railroads pay far more taxes for highways, while roads suffer damage from heavy trucks. The commission cites state tax figures showing railroads paid 38023.94 in two counties versus only 819.27 from local trucks, and condemns unfair tax distribution.
