State to Aid on Highway

Marshfield. Constable Goodman and an internal revenue officer brought Frank Sherman and Warren Eckles from North Bend for a liquor charge hearing before U S Commissioner Dodge. Bail set at 500 each, they jailed in Coquille, then to the Bay to raise bail. A still and liquor found in their homes.

Circuit Court Set Hearing For Knight Hobson Case

The Knight Hobson case heads to a circuit court hearing in Coquille with Thompson and McClure for the prosecution and Giles and Sherwood for the defense. The suit, filed by Tom Knight as guardian of Grace Knight, seeks 6400 damages after her fall on a bridge bull drive. The State vs Huling was dismissed on an instructed verdict. the state plans to pursue a supreme court appeal.

Dancing classes to start in Myrtle Point this week

Mrs. Opal Barry of Marshfield Dancing Academy visited Myrtle Point to audition prospective students. Regular classes begin next Tuesday for children at 4 pm and adults in the evening. An exhibition recital at the Unique theatre on the 10th is planned.

Support Legion Building Progress in Myrtle Point Effort

Members of the American Legion Post appointed committee report progress on soliciting funds for the Community building project. A volunteer pledges about $2,000 with a $500 contingency, and Geo C Huggins of Marshfield pledges credit. Many undecided donors, even without ties to Myrtle Point, express support and say they will contribute when the list is presented. The group hopes to complete subscriptions soon to begin construction.

University of Oregon Orchestra Concert At Hermann Hall

The University of Oregon orchestra performed to a full house at Hermann Hall with classical and popular numbers and vocal selections. They urged support for the higher education millage and Ralph Hoeber spoke after the Unique theatre pictures. Myrtle Point crowd and a new garage in Myrtle Point are noted, with Melba Meyers moving to assist there.
