Father’s quick throw saves child at Ruby Speedway
Alfred Tatina of 8501 Crandonave shielded his four year old son when a wheel tore from a racing car at Ruby Speedway. Tatina was struck and bruised but saved the boy. both were treated at St. Margaret hospital in Hammond where Tatina is recovering from a broken leg. The incident occurred during a 75 mph dash when car No 44 lost a wheel, crashing through walls and near the stands.

John Feeney, 11, injured when his bicycle hit Berda French’s car. injuries not serious. Mary Lozzarine was robbed of $15 in front of her home. Mary Ann Greenfield, 5, bitten while feeding a squirrel. Norman Bluhm, 12, was slightly injured after a collision with a car driven by George Savitt.

Anton Andrews 44 of 9625 Calumet Ave will appear before U S Commissioner Edwin Walker for a hearing on a charge of breaking an internal revenue statute after a 250 gallon still exploded in his basement last Thursday morning. Andrews was burned and gave second degree burns to Edaldo Gentilni 44 of 603 W 114th St who is reported in improved condition at Roseland Community Hospital. Andrews is out on a 2500 bond.

Jackson Park Sanctuary Plans Bird Migration Experiment

A 35 year old man, Stanley Mansfield, was indicted on three counts of larceny after police say he rented rooms from residents in the Southeast community, then stole valuables. Bond set at 15000, trial date not yet set. He was identified by more than 20 victims and arraigned in Felony court after capture by Woodlawn police.

Fainting Spell Causes Woman's Fatal Burns
Mrs Katherine Beck aged 60 of 6512 Dorchester Ave died after a fainting spell caused a hot iron to burn her dress and set it ablaze. Earl Fitkin 36 upstairs resident smelled smoke and notified police. She died at 7 pm at Illinois Central Hospital. Survived by daughter Ann.
