Mrs. Dorothy Skeech age 22 admitted to police she strangled her six day old baby on August 18 to ease debt while her husband was unemployed. The case is slated for grand jury consideration after a coroner's jury recommended holding her. Skeech has been in County jail since August 19. Four Gunmen Rob Country Club Hotel Patrons
A four man crew robbed the Bamboo room of the Country Club hotel at 6930 South Shore Drive early Monday, lining up 13 patrons and staff and taking more than $1,600 in jewelry and cash plus about $200 from the cash register. Ned Cord the bartender was forced to open the register. victims included manager Joseph Ziretti, a waitress, a dice girl, and Adrienne Chamberlin who lost rings valued at 800 dollars. Police issued descriptions of three suspects, all about 28, five seven, wearing varied outfits and carrying nickel plated revolvers. The robbery lasted about eight minutes and the men fled.

The 1949 fishing season starts today in five park district lagoons Jackson Humboldt Garfield Washington and Lincoln parks.
