A coroner's jury ruled the Saturday death of 82 year old Thomas Christian of 7255 Yates Ave accidental after he was hit by a Loop bound Illinois Central train near the Tist Street crossing as he headed to a dentist. He died of a skull fracture in Illinois Central Hospital. He came to the Southeast side 25 years ago from the West where he was in gold and silver mining. He leaves a widow, Agnes.

Man Found Guilty in Arson Case at Woodlawn
Earl Snyder aged 19 was convicted last Monday of starting a series of fires in Woodlawn over four months and sentenced to one to twenty years in the state penitentiary. Judge John Sbarbaro ordered a minimum of three to six years. Snyder waived a jury trial and spoke in monosyllables as evidence was presented by three apartment owners. Police say he admitted enjoying fire setting. a signed confession was shown.
