Five Victims In Two Fires In Southeast Chicago
Two fires early Tuesday in the Southeast area left five people injured. Captain John Mearis and Fireman Edward Jabb of Engine 87 collapsed carrying Evelyn Olszewski from a burning apartment on 8350 S Marquette after she was found unconscious. Olszewski, her husband Adam, and the two firefighters were hospitalized. Olszewski in fair condition. A separate blaze at 922 E 75th St at a service station injured Calvin White and Ernest Swanson, both hospitalized with severe burns.
