Building Razed by 5-11 Fire

A massive 5 11 fire destroyed a three story building at 6105 University Ave as explosions preceded the blaze. Damages were estimated at 75090 dollars with over 5000 spectators watching as 33 fire apparatus fought the flames. The site housed Consumers ice plant University Riding academy and South Side Distributing. A rescue saved 12 horses from the riding academy amid ammonia fumes from the ice plant.

Dillon, bleeding from a cut over his left eye, said he challenged the driver over brakes. Biography of Reverend Theodore Vogler Bryn Mawr pastor

Reverend Theodore Vogler, pastor of Bryn Mawr Community Church at 7000 Jeffery Ave, is a relatively new Southeast neighbor who has quickly earned respect for his intelligent liberal religious reading. Born in Indianapolis and raised in Easton, he is a third generation minister with a war era hospital corps background. He studied at Moravian College and Theological Seminary, served as a home missionary, was ordained in Tacoma in 1922, served in Duluth and Walla Walla before Walla Walla to Duluth and finally Bryn Mawr. He is married with two children at O’Keefe School, Wallace, ages 12 and 8. Vogler holds leadership roles in Congregational unions and councils, and enjoys gospel ball and gardening on a small farm near Easton.

Man Indicted in Chicago Slaying After Surrender on Advice

Carmello Inglima 50 of 1112 Eberhart Ave surrendered to police on lawyer George Crane's advice after being indicted by a grand jury for the murder of Ernest Land 50 of the same address. Inglima claimed self defense and did not testify at the coroner’s inquest, with the weapon still missing as police continued the search.
