Street cave in on E 73rd closes four blocks
A sewer cave in on E 73rd Street near Merrill Avenue prompted four Southeast blocks to close to auto traffic. A 20 by 20 foot cave was stabilized by old streetcar rails, with repairs to replace a decaying brick sewer underway at 5S Constance to 5 Merrill. Work began mid April and will take up to three months at an estimated cost of 145000 dollars.

Infant James Stowe Died In Crib From Blood Spasm
Infant James M Stowe three months old son of Walter A and Jacqueline Stowe of 8403 S Mackinaware was found dead in his crib. An autopsy by Dr Albert Baugher cited a deficient heart with a blood spasm as cause. Wake tonight and services tomorrow at St Michaels Church followed by Holy Cross Cemetery burial. Fire department ambulance rushed him to South Chicago hospital where he was pronounced dead. The parents have two other children Kenneth 4 and Cynthia Ann 2 1/2.

Boy in lagoon rescued after dare in Jackson Park
Marvin Caplett four years old jumped into a lagoon south of the Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park on a dare from his older brother.
