Construction will begin within weeks on a three story Bowen High School addition at 8860 Manistee Age costing about 380000. The project, first of four major expansions on the Southeast Side, is funded by 171000 from the PWA and 209000 by the Board of Education. It adds a natatorium gymnasiums and expanded classrooms and lunch facilities. Plans are overseen by architect John C. Christensen.
In Woodlawn Washington Park Triangles and Park Manor the 6th ward bills a united drive to banish dangerous and unsightly buildings. Led by Alderman John F. Healy, the plan calls for reviewing reports on immediate demolition of hazardous abandoned structures as a model from Englewood’s South Town Planning Association. The Woodlawn unit of the Chicago Boys' Club grows rapidly after opening last fall on Harper Avenue. From 400 initial members, the club added 600 in five months and now exceeds 1,000. A $5,000 fundraising drive is planned with block captains appointed. A Parents' club card party supports activities and a Lake Winona Camp opens June 26 for 400 boys with 12 days paid for each member.
Harry S. Cutmore, president of Harry S. Cutmore and Associates, will address the Kiwanis Club Woodlawn next Wednesday at 12 15 pm. at the Wedgewood Hotel. He will discuss the Cook County land use survey, a WPA project in which he is currently involved.
Funeral services were held for Oscar E. Robinson, longtime Hyde Park high music head, who died suddenly at Englewood Hospital after his 68th birthday. He directed school choruses, bands and operettas, taught at multiple schools, and authored Music Fundamentals used in Chicago high schools.
Police struggle to identify a masked gunman who robbed the Metropolitan Life Insurance office at 6752 Stony Island Ave and fled with about 1500 dollars. Fifteen victims, including 12 salesmen and 3 officials, could not pick a suspect from police files. Police also chased two gunmen linked to late Tuesday robberies at a Standard Oil station and a South Shore liquor store.
Prints from the Jackson Park Camera club members will be shown at a meeting in the golf shelter near 62nd Street east of Stony Island Avenue. R M Stevens, club print director, will lead a criticism of the photographs. Camera hobbyists are invited to attend.

Arthur Erickson reported a well dressed bandit robbed him of 92 dollars Monday afternoon at the corner of 82nd street and Ashland avenue. Erickson said the man threatened him with a gun and fled on foot.
Mayor Edward J. Kelly outlined past achievements and future projects in a radio speech to a large South Side crowd at Lindblom High School. He cited reductions in crime and infant mortality, a lower fire insurance burden, debt reduction, and plans for unified transport, water and sanitation upgrades, parks, beaches, schools, homes, and a Navy Pier convention hall.
