Hyde Park High sophomore Jimmy Woods thwarted a car’s fender brush with a tiny fox terrier on 67th street near Oakwoods cemetery. He refused to reveal his address, but neighbors noted he lives on 67th place between Blackstone and Stony Island avenues and earned a new dog for his act.

32 New Street Lights Installed on 93rd St

Installation of 32 new 600 candle power street lights on 93rd street between Cottage Grove and Kenwood avenues began Monday. Alderman Michael F. Mulcahy says the lights replace 11 older ones and are of the latest type. Local groups and residents had petitioned for years, and the order followed Mulcahy's support.

Old Frame House on 79th Street Destroyed by Fire

Fire swept through an unoccupied two story frame house at 2503 KE. 79th St leaving only a charred skeleton. The 25 year old structure caused about 2000 in damage. Fire officials led by Chief Daniel Cullinan fought the blaze for two hours. An unconfirmed tramp left a cigarette stub blamed for the fire. The property owner’s name was not disclosed by the agent.
