Amiel Barker 40 of Euclid hotel 6733 Stony Island Ave captured on the South Side by FBI agents awaited trial in Fayette county jail Vandalia on a murder charge. He is accused of shooting Harry Mays 35 a laborer at a road house on Highway No 51 near Vandalia September 10 1945. Barker was arrested for transporting a stolen automobile and released to Vandalia by U S Commissioner Edwin Walker.
The Rev George Robert Keepin was appointed pastor of St John s Methodist church at 74th Street and Jeffery Avenue succeeding eight years at Willard Church Oak Park The Bishop J Ralph Magee announced the move at a Rock River conference meeting Keepin born in Chicago studied at Dubuque University and Seminary served as pastor in Austin Methodist Wisconsin ordained 1929 later joining Rock River conference He is married to Er Jene with two sons and has Legion and Lions Club service history
Donald Parks, 17, of 6246 Stony Island, fled the Illinois Training School for Boys near St Charles last September. Hyde Park police say he was shot in the right leg Monday after four youths accosted him and two companions in Jackson Park near the Museum of Science and Industry. Parks, jailed previously on an auto theft charge, was treated at Bridewell hospital for a knee wound. Police named James White, 15, of 6140 Dorchester Ave, and Lester Olson, 16, of 1404 E 63rd St, as companions in the incident.
