Five women were injured when a car driven by Ruth Flemons collided with a second vehicle driven by Harry Simon at 73rd Street and Woodlawn Avenue about 8 30 AM Monday. Injured were Ruth Flemons Pearl Byrne Frances Parks Vilda Youngberg and Frances Driscoll with Byrne reporting back injuries and improving at Michael Reese hospital. The others left Jackson Park hospital after first aid.

A 29 year old Southeast Side woman, Mary McCormick, battles a rare streptococcus viridans infection at Woodlawn Hospital. Blood donors with type four blood who have recovered from the disease responded quickly, with initial transfusions given yesterday afternoon. Doctors cautioned it may take days to gauge improvement as the illness causes severe anemia and high fever.
