Southeast Sider Dies in California Crash
Seaman Robert Lee Hoy Lewis aged 20 died in a January 8 crash near San Onofre California while riding in a vehicle that struck a parked truck. He arrived in port recently after nearly three years aboard the destroyer Robinson. Funeral services are set for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St Kevins Church with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery Calumet City. He is survived by his parents and a brother Richard L. Lewis Sr who recently left the army.

John J. O Connor Dies Retired Railroad Engineer at 85
John J. O Connor, 85, longtime railroad engineer and former owner of a Randolph saloon, died Sunday night at his Burnside Avenue home. He served the S C railroad, piloted the Diamond Special to the Worlds Fair, and later worked as a stationary engineer.
