Spanish-American War Veteran Dies at 85
Col James Joseph Reilly aged 85 died Sunday at South Shore hospital after a four week illness. He had served as general superintendent of construction in the boards of education architectural department since 1895. Funeral in St Clotilde church and burial in Holy Sepulchre cemetery. He served in the Spanish American war and later led Clan na Gael guards. Survived by daughter Mrs Mary Lytle and three grandsons of Champlain Avenue.

Burglars broke into the Little Tots Shop at 6337 Stony Island Ave last Saturday night and stole about $8000 worth of children’s clothing. Owner Solomon Kambi said the burglary occurred between 6 PM and 11:30 PM and involved prying iron bars, forcing the back window, and breaking two padlocks on the rear door. A separate report notes a stolen television shipment from a Jeffery Avenue delivery, later found with three TVs missing from the truck.

He was 56 and survived by two sons Morton and Ronald a daughter Mrs Sylvia Simon and three sisters. Funeral services were held at Piser chapel with burial in Waldheim cemetery. He belonged to the Southmoor Community council the South side Bnai B rith chapter Cosmopolitan Masons and worked with his brother Louis in the fur business. He was born in Poland then part of Russia and moved to Chicago at age 14.
