Mr and Mrs Joseph Shubat of 7200 Kimbark avenue welcomed a son born January 18 at Little Company of Mary hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds one and a half ounces at birth and has been named Joseph Edward.
Earl Kribben chairman of the Chicago Red Cross chapter announces 26 Southside community chairmen for 1946. Each leads local Red Cross committees across 273 Chicago-area communities to coordinate programs and policies under the chapter’s service drive.
William Simpson of 7306 South Shore Drive will portray Pastor Manders in Ibsens Ghosts. The Chicago Stage Guild presents the drama at its studio 640 North State Street with shows at 8 30 pm today tomorrow and Saturday and a Sunday matinee.
Bernard Troy 6434 Morgan St. installed last Sunday as commander of the Pvt Sam Neivelt post of the Jewish War Veterans in ceremonies at South Side Hebrew Congregation 7359 Chappel Ave. Rose Berman 7927 Drexel Ave. named president of the auxiliary. Troy succeeds Harry Kass as first commander of the three year old post. Mrs Mildred Muller served as first president last year. Officers named include Morris Eisenstein senior vice commander and Arnold Brown first junior vice commander. The roster lists many local residents in posts and trustees.
Four films on housing and architecture will be shown at 8 pm tomorrow in the Woodlawn library at 6247 Kimbark ave. The meeting lists officers including vice president Mrs Berdyce Phillips recording chair Jeanette Eisenstein secretary Mrs Helen Sloan treasurer Mrs Natastie Troy and conductor Mrs Sylvia Oberman with Sally Jaffee as guard.
