Private Julian Rosin 26 died August 10 at Fort Belvoir after a lightning strike while watching a baseball game. Funeral held Friday at 6935 Stony Island Ave with Fort Sheridan honor guard. Taps at Waldheim Cemetery Forest Park. Survived by parents Robert twin, two sisters, fiance Elaine Abrams, and grandmother Lena Harris.

Schnackenberg Says He'll Not Run For House Again
Elmer J. Schnackenberg longtime state representative from the 13th district and speaker since 1941 announces he will not seek re election to the assembly. He hints at possible candidacy for higher office perhaps US senator or lieutenant governor on the Republican ticket next April. New Transfer Point Approved for South Shore Trolleys and Buses
A six month temporary order by the Illinois Commerce Commission allows a transfer point at Exchange Ave linking the T1st St bus line with the 78rd St streetcar line. Ald. Bohling and R. M. Lenihan pushed the measure amid steelworker commuting concerns. Chicago Surface Lines will study feasibility during the trial, which aims to ease transfers for residents north of 71st Street.
