Election night excitement marked the Woodlawn Boys' Club Summer Camp fund drive as 55 banks produced 654.53 with top bank from Illinois Central yielding 250.76. Fort Dearborn One Time Commander Dies at 43

War area losses in Pacific claim two dead two missing
Two local men are reported killed and two seamen missing in the Southwest Pacific. Pvt. Henry Bilenda, 32, of Exchange Avenue, died in action during the Munda invasion. Seaman Lambesis, 35, of 2630 East 75th Street, was also killed. Missing in action are Lt. William Wallenberg, 39, of Drexel Avenue, and Lt. William Hansen, 33, of Dante Avenue.
