Grand Crossing-Chatham Chamber of Commerce launches an intensive membership drive led by Bernard Thompson. Raymond F. Norton says the district is a leading Chicago business center with a building boom and new stores attracting new businessmen.
Chicago launches the South Side land use survey as part of the Chicago Plan Commission effort directed by Harry Cutmore. WPA enumerators and 705 support staff will collect home and property data to map use, housing, parks, schools, and industrial encroachment while stressing no tax questions.
Dr Gordon G Johnson leads the newly formed Smelt club formed after a Wednesday night meeting to organize the smelt dinners. Officers include Dr Andr J Scherer vice president Dr Bett L Wright treasurer and Fri Arthur Davis secretary with board members such as Andrew C Metzger Republican committeeman. Rumor says a bylaw may permit doubling smelt consumption affecting member rights.
