Hyde Park High Wins Ninth Math Tourney Title
Hyde Park High School captured its ninth straight math tourney title at Wilson City college during the 28th annual National Council of Teachers of Mathematics meeting. Gerry Cohn, 17, won first place and a 440 scholarship to the University of Chicago. Contestants from 16 South Side high schools solved 18 of 24 problems.

Mrs. Alex Jolly of 7608 Chappel tave is named chairman of Salvation Army Region No. 6 for the Doughnut Tag day starting June 16. Carmelite To Say Mass Next Sunday
The Most Rev. Hilary M. Doswald OCARM founder of St. Cyril's college in 1961 will be guest at a May 3 testimonial dinner by the Alumni of the school at the Windermere East hotel 56th st and Hyde Park blvd. A solemn high mass will be held at St. Cyril church 411 Dante Ave from 2 to 5 p.m. with a reception in the school hall. Hilary, born in 1877 in Switzerland, became a Carmelite priest in 1900 and helped found St. Cyril college later Mt. Carmel High School. He served as prior and college president, pastor of St. Cyril church, and general of the Carmelite order before retiring to Washington DC in 1947.

Edward McMahon dies at 51 longtime Knights officer
Funeral services were held for Edward J. McMahon 51 at St Clotilde church. He died of a heart attack Sunday while hospitalized at Mercy. Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher cemetery. McMahon was vice president in charge of manufacturing for Dearborn Chemical and past grand knight of Leo XIII council Knights of Columbus. He served as director of the Valentine Boys Club and Junior Achievement. Survived by widow Dorothy and two sons Edward J and Martin Francis.

Railroad Man Found Dead in Marshall Burial
John Flesch aged 60 a railroad fire man on sick leave was found dead in his apartment at 6317 Blackstone Ave Marshall Texas and buried there this week. The death was due to natural causes after the janitor discovered the burning lights three days in a row following information from the building manager William Nielsen.

Minnie Guggenheim Dies at 73 in Chicago Hospital
Mrs Minnie Guggenheim 73 of 8000 Champlain av South Side resident for over 50 years died at Michael Reese hospital after six weeks illness.
