Crerar Church to Dedicate $190000 Wing on April 23
The Crerar Memorial Presbyterian church will dedicate a new 190000 dollar sanctuary wing on Sunday April 23 at 4 pm the five hundred seat addition includes a social hall and a choir room. The Rev Harrison Ray Anderson of Fourth Presbyterian Church will deliver the address as preparatory events run from April 21 to 23 with memorial dedications and a youth night.

CHA plans face local opposition from South Manor group
The South Manor Improvement association joined the Civic council of the 18th ward in opposing CHA public housing plans arguing funds and bonds since 1947 were for slum clearance. They urge limiting CHA power to clearance and rebuilding 12 square miles. CHA also announced a move to larger offices on May 1 to accommodate staff expanded to oversee up to 40,000 housing units.

Vail won the 2nd district nomination with 17 057 votes, defeating Bernard Epton by four to one and Jeremiah Cronin by 17 to one as Barratt O’Hara clinched the Democratic nod.
