A 27-foot, six-ton yacht named Dal sits near Outer Drive in Burnham Park, believed to be the first all waterway voyage from Poland to Chicago. Sailed from Gdynia in 1934, it traveled 7000 miles to Chicago in 87 days as a goodwill mission for the Century of Progress, later stored at Navy Pier and placed in the park as a symbol of friendship with Poland.

Three people died in Southeast side traffic incidents this week, including Laura Mahoney, 50, wife of Sgt. John Mahoney, after a taxi collided with a car at 61st and Ellis.
