Mrs. George L. Moss of Tabor Lutheran hopes repentance may come to the thief who stole a small silver private Communion set from Rev. G A Herbert the church pastor. The set had been kept in the car glove compartment and once belonged to wartime service as the chaplain distributed Communion to injured servicemen. Ironically the thief left two New Testaments and religious pamphlets in the pastor’s car for study.

The Bureau of Electricity will install modern mercury vapor street lights on ten Southtown streets this year, replacing 25 to 40 year old lamps. Most lighting will be underground in residential areas with some overhead lines on business streets. Priority is given to arteries being widened and relocation needs. Lights planned for Ashland, Columbus, Indiana, Kedzie, Marquette, Morgan, Pulaski, Vincennes and 127th streets, plus related spans. The 20,000 lumen fixtures are four times brighter and cheaper to operate than older lamps.
Ollie E. Jones of 7000 South Shore Drive and Swift and Co. vice president was elected president of the Rotary Club of Chicago for the year starting July 1. The club, with about 3850 members, is among the world’s largest service organizations, founded February 23, 1905 by Paul P. Harris.

Army Private Edward W Wakoff aged 21 son of Mr and Mrs Vazil Wakoff 2711 E 93rd St serves with the 44th Engineer Construction Group in Pusan Korea. He is a cook with Headquarters and Service Company of the 453rd Engineer Construction Battalion and entered the Army in February 1953.
