South Shore High School to Cost 1.7 Million
Specifications for the new South Shore high school were announced by Board of Education architect John C. Christensen. The Rembrandt school will rise at 76th Street and Bennett Avenue, cost 1.7 million, and be ready by September 1939. It will have 36 classrooms, three stories, an assembly hall for 800, a natatorium with locker rooms, and separate boys and girls gymnasiums.

Boxing show plans in Jackson park spark camp tent fundraiser

Mrs Edward McGrady aged 67 of 6604 Ellis Ave died Sunday night when a Michigan Central freight train struck the car she and her husband were fleeing from on a crossing west of Grand Beach Michigan. The husband was uninjured as the car stalled on tracks and the engineer stated he sounded the warning before impact.

Four gunmen slugged Charles L. Gerds in Grand Crossing and robbed him of a bag with cancelled checks and $12 in cash after he had just left the bank. The incident occurred in front of his home Saturday noon and he was not seriously hurt. Gerds, a Republican committeeman and head of Gerds Dodge and Plymouth Motor Sales, had payroll money in his back pocket. The bandits fled in a waiting car, returned after realizing the sack was lighter, then disappeared again as Gerds hurried inside.

Two Bandits Grab $50 in Liquor Store Raid
Two men robbed a liquor store at 1842 E 78th Street Saturday night. One wore a revolver and forced manager William Feldt and delivery boys Harry and Albert Sarafin into an ice box. They took about $50 from the cash register, then fled in a car whose license number the trio later noted.
