The Avalon Park Forum supported an underpass over safety islands.
Construction started this week on a $200 000 five story addition to the South Chicago Community Hospital located at 2323 E 92nd pl. The expanded facility will double the hospital capacity within six to eight months with 100 beds including two children’s wards. The brick building will sit at 93rd st and Crandon ave adjoining the current structure and feature sun rooms on each floor. The first floor houses administrative offices lounges X ray departments laboratories a dining room and kitchen. The upper floors will be patient space and the fifth floor will contain operating rooms.
The Woodlawn advisory committee of the Boys' Club aims to raise at least 5000 dollars in a citywide campaign. A thousand announcements went out to prospective contributors as the group settles a naming dispute between Politicans and Dictators before their debut play for the Parents' organization.

Induction center in the 132nd Infantry Armory processes about 700 men daily for April quota. Southeast side boards 12 13 14 15 and 18 sent 263 men to the armory Tuesday. Board 12 lists 20 volunteers including Richard Nielsen and Joel Grubb Jr. Other boards 12 and 13 provided multiple volunteers from numerous addresses as the draft advances.
Holy Week observances unfold with confirmations for hundreds of youths in Lutheran and Methodist churches and palm blessings in Catholic, Episcopal, and Protestant services. Cantatas and pageants mark the week with choirs performing music such as Rossini Stabat Mater and John Stainer The Crucifixion.

Capt Thomas Connolly moves from Chicago Lawn to Burnside. Captain Ray Crane shifts to Woodlawn from Hyde Park where he served since April 15 1937. Capt Walter Healy transfers Burnside to Hyde Park. Capt Frank Demski moves to Chicago Lawn from Brighton Park where he had been since January 3 1936.
Colonel Tschou former private secretary to Chiang Kai-shek will speak to the Kiwanians of Woodlawn South Shore at the Southmoor hotel noon next Wednesday. His topic is International Understanding. He served as labor director in Chung king and China's chief representative at Geneva labor conferences and speaks English French and German. The club expects a large attendance.
