Waller hails democratic project as coliseum opens

About 1,500 people attended the formal opening of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center as state and local leaders praised the $26 million facility. Former Gov. Bill Waller, Lt. Gov. Evelyn Gandy, and Harrison County officials lauded the project, noting a two percent local sales tax funds and recalling funding efforts including a $3 million grant and a Nixon-era discussion of federal aid. The ceremony closed with promises of ongoing county benefits and continued development.
