Memorial Day address honors fallen soldiers and homefront duty
District Attorney J Newton Taylor of Huntingdon County delivered the Memorial Day main address at the court house ceremony amid service members home for the holiday. Revered speakers included Rev Father Albert Gartland at Husband cemetery and I F Woodrow of the Church of Christ. The program opened with chimes from Trinity Lutheran Church and a wreath laid by Mrs Norman Yutzy, widow of a son lost in service.

Meyersdale Man Dies By Own Action
William A. James 71 of Beachley street Meyersdale slashed his throat with a pocket knife and was found by his wife in the first floor lavatory about 11 am Tuesday. Coroner Dr. P C Dosch said he died about an hour earlier after nine months of illness and odd behavior. He is survived by his widow and five children. Funeral from the residence Friday at 2:30 pm with burial in Union Cemetery.

Livengood Dies After Long Illness
Peter Lincoln Livengood 80 a Salisbury newspaper man and father of the secretary of internal affairs died at his home after years of illness. He worked from 1886 in Nebraska and Maryland moving and editing papers including the Salis bury Star Windber Era and the Frostburg Spirit before leaving journalism for motor vehicle work.

Eleven Navy crewmen die in Norfolk crash near Chincoteague
Eleven crewmen of a naval patrol plane were killed when the aircraft crashed one and a half miles west of the Chincoteague auxiliary air station while attempting an emergency landing. The fifth district public relations office reported no survivors and pending next of kin notifications.
