Man, 75, Struck and Killed by Train Near Listie
Andrew Beres, 75, of Listie died at 9 35 p m at Somerset Community Hospital from injuries after being struck by a B and O freight train near Listie Wednesday afternoon. State police say he walked south on the tracks at Adams Crossing as the train approached from behind. The engineer said he sounded the horn and applied brakes but Beres did not hear the warning. The train slowed to five miles an hour when impact occurred. Authorities ruled the accident was caused by the victims negligent action.
