Berlin and Windber volunteer fire departments dominated the parade prizes at the Somerset spring frolic night. Windber drum and bugle corps won best appearing drum corps earning 15 dollars, plus 5 for best appearing pumper. Berlin claimed 5 for most men in line and 5 for best appearing auxiliary, while Mt. Pleasant V F W Girls Band took 15 for best appearing band. Franklin and Grantsville earned 5 each for best uniformed company and farthest distance. Twenty three organizations marched, including Rockwood bands, Ferndale and Stoystown auxiliaries, and Somerset volunteers.

Two Central City brothers and an Indiana county man were arrested Monday night and charged with looting the A. R. Conis store in Marstellar Cambria county during the early hours of April 2. Kenneth Fedder 20 Ernest Indiana county and Edward Kinsey 28 and Raymond Kinsey 25 Central City were named. Part of 100 dollars in merchandise was recovered at Edward Kinsey home. A suitcase from the store was found with Fedder at Orville Daniels farm near Jennertown. All three allegedly confessed to the break in through a rear window.
