Three Freight Trains Collide in Ohio Wreck
Three freight trains collided near Poqua Ohio killing three crewmen and injuring four. A coal train stopped to take on coal, was hit by a second, which pushed into the pile and scattered debris on the Pennsylvania double tracks. A fast Chicago to New York fruit train crashed into the wreckage, derailing cars and crushing a man in a ditch. The dead were Harry J. Johnson Fred L. Trickfer and Leonard Schaeffer all of Logansport Indiana. The injured included J C Murdock Gordon Pinney Charles Bryan and Frank L Mesersmith with varying conditions.

Didn't See Car Grimm Is Dead on Lincoln Highway
William Grimm an 80 year old Kantner resident was struck and killed by a car while crossing the former Lincoln highway between Stoystown and Kantner Saturday morning. A coroner's jury absolved Charles Liberty the 35 year old Kantner driver from blame. The inquest heard Liberty testified he sounded his horn but Grimm did not hear it. Grimm died of a fractured skull and multiple fractures. He was a son of the late Captain Adam Grimm and Elizabeth Maine Grimm, with a brother David and sister Mrs Phillip Berkelile surviving.

William Dempsey McGinnis, 70, former newspaper publisher, coal operator and banker, died Saturday night after a year long illness in Connellsville. He edited the Connellsville Daily News and helped organize several coal and fuel firms and served as director of two banks. He was a charter Pleasant Valley Country Club member and member of Rotary, Masons and Elks. Surviving are his widow and son William D McGinnis Jr.

Plane crash near Latrobe kills two men
A small Aerona K plane crashed soon after takeoff from Latrobe killing Cecil E. Davis 27 and Andrew Sivak 27. The two men, pilot and passenger, were the sole occupants. Davis, of New Stanton, was a recently licensed pilot. Sivak, of Westmoreland Homesteads, played for the Homestead baseball team. The crash occurred near St Xavier's School and the bodies were taken to a Latrobe undertaker as investigators studied the wreckage. No cause yet learned.
