Six people were taken to Commun ity hospital after a two car crash at the Plank road and old mud pike near Berlin. Drivers Corp Irvin K. Bittner and Clyde Ferner survived with minor injuries while passengers Margaret Fisher Ada Belle Fisher Wilma Miller and Margaret Miller sustained lacerations fractures and burns. State police investigated and Bittner, on furlough from Fort Dix, resumed home duties.

Frances Kimmel a 27 year old daughter of Andrew Kimmel of Maple Ridge was hospitalized with head injuries after a car on the highway between Blough and Holsapple overturned on a sharp curve. Driver Joseph Hegadus and another passenger John Geraltowsky, both Windber residents, were uninjured. Miss Kimmel was brought to the Community hospital by Charles Whipkey of Somerset. An X ray exam is planned to assess injuries.
