The Rev. Evaristo Americo Luteri, brother of Peter Luteri of West Catharine Street, arrived in New York May 4 on the Sobieski and came to Somerset to learn English before serving at a parish. Norman Martzolf of R D Butler won $10000 in a damage suit against the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. He alleged an approaching locomotive had no whistle or bell and the engine lacked a headlight when it struck at Lyndora crossing near Butler in July 1946, leaving him severely injured and paralyzed from the waist down.
