Member owners of the Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative will hear President Judge Charles H. Coffroth at the 33rd annual session June 9 at 7 p.m. in Somerset High School Auditorium. Three directors will be elected to three year terms from District Two District Three and District Seven. Judge Coffroth, a Windser resident, was appointed president judge by Gov. Shafer in 1969 and confirmed in 1970. He was nominated by both parties.
Somerset State Hospital officials met with Welfare Department executives in Harrisburg for two hours to present plans for the 1970s. William Beach, deputy secretary of welfare and mental health commissioner, said the plans were well received. Beach said the hospital would continue to be used with higher bed occupancy despite a 12 staff reduction from the proposed budget. The Somerset delegation included Dr William Ryan James M Bailey and Dean Hottle. Further details of the plans will be outlined at a Thursday night meeting.
