Andrew Friend and his brother Augustine settled near Turkey Foot and Youghiogheny, with Andrew serving in Braddock’s expedition and the French and Indian War. He led ranger companies in the Revolutionary War and fought Indians only in self defense. A pursuit after cabin robberies led to a brutal scalping scene, then Friend defeated pursuing warriors with a bold cliff jump that foiled their ambush.
