Arrest in Death of Hotel Victim

Seven Die in Bristol Air Plane Crash in English Channel
Seven members of Bristol Air plane Company’s research staff were killed when a two engine freighter test aircraft disintegrated in the air and exploded over the English Channel near Portland. The Royal Navy submarine recovered two bodies and continued search for others. Among the dead were John Radcliffe, a leading British aircraft engineer, and J A C Northway, the assistant chief test pilot and plane's pilot. The company said the craft was an advanced model used to ferry automobiles and bulky cargo on short trips.
