Kennell Dies After Hit and Run Near Wellersburg
Roy E. Kennell, 56, of Hyndman R D 1 died in Memorial hospital Cumberland after a hit and run. His wife found him unconscious along the road near his Southampton township home about 50 feet from the house. He had a fractured rib and internal injuries and died at 1 30 p m Thursday. Pvt P G Marenna said Kennell was returned home Tuesday night in a truck by cousin Jesse Kennell and was left near his home. No suspects have been named as the investigation continues.

Tom Griffith of Ursina is jailed on charges of aggravated assault and battery and assault with intent to kill after stabbing Grant McCulley, 20, in his Confluence area home during an early Thursday argument over junk valued at about $5. McCulley was taken to Confluence hospital in fair condition with a four inch deep chest wound that pierced the left lung.
