District Sabbath Schools Meet At Sipesville
The Somerset County Council of Christian Education holds its spring session at Sipesville Church of the Brethren Sunday at 2 30 pm with Dr. Guy F Eberhart presiding and an afternoon program including speaker Rev Orville Kuhns and a question period. Evening session at 7 30 pm features Rev J F Messenger Jr and anthems by the church choir. Officers and divisions are announced with installation by G Floyd Dye and benediction by Rev Earl Lehman.

Speedy, a registered Holstein in P. B. Latuch’s Rockwood herd, topped Somerset County Dairy Herd Improvement records in April with 1970 pounds of milk and 98.5 pounds butterfat. Runners up included Lee Walker Somerset R D 2 Emerson Knepper Erlin R D 1 and Philip Walters Somerset R D 4. Top herds were Latuch and Freeman Horchler Salisbury R D 1 and Walters. Uncle Tom's Cabin sold three million copies.

Somerset County 4-H Officers Trained in Duties
About ninety Somerset county 4-H club officers received instruction on performance of duties Thursday evening in the Somerset county courthouse. The newly elected officers were guided by a corps of instructors from Penn State University and local educators, including Miss Elsie Trabert and William Jeffries. The program covered secretary treasurers, presidents and vice presidents, song leaders, reporters, game leaders, and home economics leaders with various university and local staff providing guidance. The session, organized by the Somerset County Agriculture Extension association, concluded with model meetings to apply the training.

Chicago Jury Sentences Slayer of 2nd Wife to Death
Peter Edward Kenzig, 47, convicted by a Chicago jury for the stabbing murder of his wife Clara 48 on March 13 1953 at their home on Gunnison Street. He also wounded his mother in law Kathryn Ericson 74 who testified. He had escaped from prison in 1948 and was captured in San Diego last January. Judge set May 27 for a motion hearing.
