Fire Burns Over 200 Acres Near Roberts Station
A forest fire Thursday burned nearly 200 acres of timberland near Roberts station and south of Braum schoolhouse. Fire Warden Laughery of Glencoe reported about 60 workers had the blaze under control by 10 p m with 15 to 20 men staying overnight. The fire likely started from a spark after a locomotive passed Western Maryland railroad. Somerset volunteer fire company answered the call around 1 30 p m but could not stop the blaze. Fire Chief Richard Pile said crews were finally unable to aid and a crowd of local firefighters then organized to combat the flames.

Two Boys Struck and Killed by Freight Engine in New Kensington

Savage to Cumberland en route home when the collision occurred. Yutzy left home to sell coal. Yutzy is survived by his widow and nine daughters.
