Seizure Fatal To Judge Lansberry in Meyersdale
The Honorable Thomas F. Lansberry of Somerset collapsed and died Thursday night in Meyersdale at 65 from a heart attack. He was attending a Rotary event and pronounced dead at Meyersdale Community Hospital. He served as senior judge and former president judge of Somerset County and held numerous civic posts. Survived by widow Ruth Morgan and two grandsons. charity contributions requested in lieu of flowers.

County Officials Consider New Traffic Sign Program
Somerset Borough already received 9000 dollars from the Federal Highway Safety program as boroughs and townships in Somerset County were urged to join a grants funded update. Donald Snavely of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation outlined a 238 municipality pool in District 9 eligible for funds and noted the program began last June but Agnes flooding pushed it to fall. He described skid testing to locate danger spots and explained new red and black sign designs with pictorial warnings replacing worded signs to improve comprehension. The federal 50 50 program covers municipal signs only. state highway signs will remain outside its scope unless a highway runs through a town where the municipality handles signs such as lane designations and speed limits.
