First Maple Train For Meyersdale
A maple train from Cumberland Maryland will carry Queen Maple elect Miss Sally Miller and her court to Meyersdale the Maple City Sunday. Tourists from many areas will tour Maple camps in Somerset County. On the Cumberland to Meyersdale train are David Weimer and Hans Stumpf of Somerset and Jan Gladsteen of the Mennonite Press Scottdale. They will perform musical numbers on the train. William Stader of Somerset will represent the maple industry and distribute maple favors from Keim's Camp near West Salisbury.

Herbert E. Sann 69 longtime manager of the Local Bureau of Employment Office in Somerset is in critical condition at Somerset Community Hospital after a serious illness on Thursday. Fire Destroys Area House Trailer
Earl Weigle of Beaver Dam Road three miles from Friedens saw his house trailer burn Friday night. Fire Chief Lester Miller said heat from a kerosene heater sparked the blaze and a nearby paint bucket exploded. Firefighters from Friedens, with four trucks and fifteen men, spent nearly two hours at the scene. damage is estimated at six thousand five hundred dollars and the trailer valued at five thousand dollars. The Weigles salvaged some clothing on leaving.

Meyersdale to host the 21st Somerset County Maple Festival with three parades March 29 to 31. Jaffa Temple units return to join the Maple Festival parade Saturday at 6 30 p.m. The farmers agricultural and Saddle Club parade is Saturday at 1 30 p.m. and the antique car parade closes the weekend on Sunday at 3 30 p.m. Over 1300 in prizes will be awarded, including a 1000 major prize in the evening parade. Sally Miller will crown the Maple Queen aboard afloat with two maids of honor.
